Abstract
Superalloys: Alloying and Performance examines the effect of alloying on nickel-base, cobalt-base, and nickel-iron-base alloys and their suitability for specific types of service. It begins with a review of the compositions, structures, and properties of superalloys and their primary strengthening mechanisms. It discusses the basics of alloying and explains how different elements, whether intentionally added or not, affect important properties and behaviors including creep and fatigue life, oxidation and corrosion resistance, ductility, rupture strength, and flow stress as well as manufacturing qualities such as castability, forgeability, and weldability. It also discusses some of the main concerns when selecting a superalloy. For information on the print version, ISBN: 978-1-61503-040-8, follow this link.
