Abstract
High-Temperature Corrosion and Materials Applications provides answers, insights, and data to help engineers understand and resolve the types of corrosion problems that occur in power generation, chemical processing, oil and gas refining, pulp and paper, and other such industries. It discusses the basic modes of high-temperature corrosion including oxidation, nitridation, carburization and metal dusting, sulfidation, and halogen corrosion as well as liquid metal embrittlement, molten salt corrosion, erosion-corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking. It covers some of the unique aspects of high-temperature corrosion in coal- and oil-fired boilers, black liquor recovery boilers, waste-to-energy boilers, and gas turbines. It reviews the thermodynamics of various corrosion processes, discusses prevention and mitigation techniques, and includes extensive data on commercial alloys, facilitating materials selection.
