Abstract

Abstract This article addresses macroscale fracture appearances, microscale fracture-surface appearances or morphologies, fracture mechanisms, and those factors that influence fractures and fracture appearances. Some of the macroscopic and microscopic features identified by the failure analyst to evaluate the fracture surfaces of metals and plastics are described and compared.
