Abstract

The Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) was approved by the United Nations as one of the first activity-based statistical accounting systems under the system of national accounting. Since its formalization as a framework for adoption by individual countries, implementation has been a slow and challenging process. One factor that has challenged implementation in Tanzania is the availability of quality data from existing national statistical programmes. This paper evaluates the quality of secondary datasets for prioritized TSA implementation. The results provide a critical stimulus to adopting the TSA through the use of secondary data sources.
