Abstract

Toxic effects of sublethal concentrations of nuvan on acid phosphatase (ACP), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase), succinic dehydrogenase (SDH), lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) and acetyl cholinestrase (AChE) activities were studied in fingerlings of Labeo rohita. Two sublethal concentrations i.e. 10.3 mg/I and 2.06 mg/l were selected basing on the LCso value of nuvan in rohu for this experiment continuing for a period of 45 days. Sublethal exposures at two concentrations reduced the brain AChE, and brain, liver and kidney LDH and ATPase (P < 0.05) over a period of 45 days. The reduction of SDH was detected in all the organs examined except brain on 30 day at 2.06 mg/I. While ALP and AChE activities of brain were decreased, the ACP activity was increased.
