Abstract

The patients relatives have poor knowledge related to post operative management of abdominal surgeries. Present study is aimed to effectiveness of self instruction module on knowledge regarding post operative management among relatives of patient undergoing abdominal surgeries at selected hospital at Kota Rajasthan.60 samples were selected using Non probability purposive sampling technique. The findings revealed that in pretest, the majority of the respondent 76.67 % had poor level of knowledge, 23.33% had average level of knowledge and none of respondents had good level of knowledge. In post test, majority of the respondents 70% had average level of knowledge, 18.33% had poor of knowledge, 11.67% had good level of knowledge regarding post operative management among relatives of patient undergoing abdominal surgeries. The knowledge of the post operative management among relatives of patient undergoing abdominal surgeries before the administration of the self instruction module knowledge was poor. The self instruction module significantly increased the knowledge of post operative management among relatives of patient undergoing abdominal surgeries. The self instruction module was an effective to enhance the knowledge of relatives of patient undergoing abdominal surgeries so these kind of strategies can be used in the hospitals, community to increase knowledge regarding post operative management.
