Abstract

This article examines enhancing public sector revenue in the Ministry of Finance Kenya, where the budgetary deficit is persistent.  The paper adopted both the textual analysis of previous literature, reports, articles, and a qualitative survey that included collecting data from multiple sources and interviews. The key findings of this research highlight the importance of implementing robust tax policies and improving compliance to enhance public sector revenue in Kenya. The Ministry of Finance must focus on making simpler tax regulations, increasing transparency, and promoting taxpayer education to address the current challenges. Additionally, leveraging technology to automate tax collection processes and strengthen monitoring mechanisms can significantly improve revenue collection efficiency. It is also essential for the government to address corruption and streamline government expenditures to ensure optimal utilization of resources. In light of these findings, we recommend that the Ministry of Finance implements a comprehensive tax reform strategy that addresses these key areas to promote sustainable revenue generation. By applying these research recommendations, the Ministry can foster economic growth, enhance public service delivery, and ultimately contribute to the country’s development goals.
