Abstract
This paper presents a brief overview of the most important case studies concerned with the use of laser techniques for documentation, replication and reconstruction of outdoor sculptural monuments in Saint Petersburg, Russia. These studies have been conducted by a research group of
scientists, students and PhD students from Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University (LETI), in cooperation with specialists from museums and private restoration companies. It is shown that the combined use of 3D laser scanning, computer modelling, computer numerical control (CNC) milling
machines and additive technologies opens up a new perspective in cultural heritage preservation.
