Abstract
In order to quickly and comprehensively detect residual stress, microcracks and other damages in ferromagnetic materials, this study developed an integrated magnetic non-destructive testing system with changeable magnetic field excitation based on anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR)
sensors. The system integrated magnetic memory detection, magnetic flux leakage (MFL) detection and magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) detection and was used to perform detection experiments on a 45# steel test-piece with precast residual stress zones and cracks in different directions. The experimental
results showed that the proposed system can detect residual stress in a ferromagnetic test-piece, identify microcrack defects of different angles and quantitatively evaluate the residual stress. This paper provided a useful reference for the comprehensive evaluation of damages in ferromagnetic
materials.
