Abstract

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>In this paper, we show by means of a diffeomorphism that when approximating the planet Saturn by a sphere, the errors associated with the spherical geopotential approximation are so significant that this approach is rendered unsuitable for any rigorous mathematical analysis.</p>
