Abstract
The quality of research and publication of journals published in the profession is important. It is considered one of the most important pieces of evidence showing the development of that profession. It was aimed to examine the research and publication ethics policies of the journals, which are basically professional journals and continue to publish in the field of veterinary medicine science and reveal the current situation. Within the scope of the study, journals publishing in the field of veterinary sciences were searched through DergiPark, the Web of Science database, and their websites. The features of these journals, indexical to which they are indexed, statements about research-publication ethics, and the national and international academic institutions they are members of were gathered under appropriate headings. The data obtained were examined, and their analysis was carried out. It was determined that 12% (n:3) of the veterinary journals in Turkey were indexed within the scope of SCI-E, 4% (n:1) were indexed within the scope of E-SCI, 60% (n:15) were university journals, 44% (n:11) published two issues per year, and 56% (n:14) of the publication language were Turkish and English. As a result, it can be said that the number and quality of publications journals in the field of veterinary science have increased in recent years, they comply with the criteria of “national peer-reviewed journal”, and in many parameters, TR Index complies with the COPE and ICMJE criteria, the principles of which are adopted. However, there is no common standard for the journals.
