<i>Forsstroemia producta</i> (Neckeraceae) – New to Indian moss flora from Kumaun Region of Western Himalayas

Abstract

Forsstroemia producta (Hornsch.) Paris (Neckeraceae)–a widely distributed, pleurocarpous moss is documented for the first time in Indian bryoflora. The present report is based on a collection made from Cedrus Trew and Quercus L. dominated forests at Lohaghat and Mukteshwar in the Kumaun region of Western Himalayas, India. To support the new distributional record, a taxonomic description of the epiphytic moss, Forsstroemia Lindb. (F. producta), a member of the section Microforsstroemia Nog. is provided here.
