Abstract
Health Impact Assessment is an useful mix of procedures, tools and methods for the assessment of the health issues due the development of new plans, programs and projects. Heath Impact Assessment is well stablished in homologous countries in the decision making processes for more than two decades. Nevertheless, in Spain the actual situation is far from international standards. In this review, a revision of the relationships between health and environment has been carried out using case study methods, as well as the origin and evolution of HIA in general and particularly in Spain.
