Abstract

In the rat, stimulation of the acupuncture locus Fung-Lung produced the most notable hypotensive effect, followed by Tsu-San-Li. Stimulation of Fung-Lung did not affect the cardiac output but caused a singificant to decrease of peripheral resistance. Since the stimulation of the superficial peroneal nerve which runs near Fung-Lung and to the central end of the cut superficial peroneal nerve caused hypotension, the hypotensive effect of the stimulation of Fung-Lung is apparently neurogenically induced, resulting in a depressor response with an inhibition of tonic vasoconstrictor fiber activity and dilatation of resistance vessels.
