Abstract
In this paper, we propose a method for matching silhouettes descriptors written following XLWDOS language (Xml Language for Writing Descriptors of Outline Shapes). As we will see, XLWDOS descriptors are sensitive to noise. A Gaussian convolution of 2D silhouettes is applied in order to smooth outline shapes. Depending on the Gaussian scale values, new silhouettes descriptors are obtained and used in the matching process. We also propose a "reduction technique" to process noisy shapes and match corresponding XLWDOS descriptors using only "textual transformations". Experiments, performed on a set of images, show that our matching methods overcome the XLWDOS noise sensitiveness.
