Abstract
This study investigates a previously overlooked source of employees’ innovative behaviour in the business sector, namely household innovation. Specifically, we seek to explore the spillover of behavioural innovation prototyping experiences between the household and the business sector. Drawing on spillover theory, we explore the bidirectional flow of behavioural innovation prototyping experiences between the household and the business sector. Through a tripartite online survey with 330 working participants over four months, we show how household innovation prototyping experiences affect innovative behaviour in the business sector. Relying on person–environment fit theory, we also examine how this effect may be strengthened by certain contingency factors. Results show that the relationship between spillover effects and employees’ innovative behaviour in the business sector is strengthened by employees’ technology readiness.
