On the Concepts of Vacuum and Mass and the Search for Higgs

Abstract

This is a brief comment on the discovery of “a boson similar to Higgs boson”, written upon the request of Professor Phua and based on personal recollections and on my recent book “ABC of Physics: A Very Brief Guide”. According to the language of Feynman graphs accepted in this book, the role of field is played by virtual particle.
