Possible observation of ppπ+ resonance state in 12C12C collisions at 3.37 A GeV

Abstract

Experimental results on the search and investigation of the possible pp[Formula: see text] resonance states in inelastic [Formula: see text]C[Formula: see text]C collisions at 3.37 [Formula: see text] GeV are presented. The statistically significant peak structure with mass [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]MeV and Breit–Wigner width [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]MeV has been observed for the first time in the spectrum of invariant masses of pp[Formula: see text] system in [Formula: see text]C[Formula: see text]C collisions at 3.37 [Formula: see text] GeV. The inclusive cross-section of the formation of this possible eight quark pp[Formula: see text] resonance state has been estimated to be [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]mb. The significant maximum structure with the center estimated at [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]MeV, and having a narrow width ([Formula: see text][Formula: see text]MeV), has been observed in the spectrum of the invariant masses of two protons in [Formula: see text]C[Formula: see text]C collisions at 3.37 [Formula: see text] GeV when the value of the invariant mass [Formula: see text] of the pp[Formula: see text] system falls inside the region of the observed pp[Formula: see text] resonance structure: [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]MeV.
