Formation of a dinuclear zinc complex with open-ring hemiporphyrazine

Abstract

A dinuclear zinc complex was synthesized by the reaction of an open-ring hemiporphyrazine containing two terminal phenyl groups with zinc acetate dihydrate. Single crystal X-ray analysis revealed that the complex consists of two five-coordinated zinc ions and two open-ring ligands. The two phenyl rings in the zinc complex were found to be directed towards the benzene-ring side of the isoindoline moieties, which was in contrast to the metal-free compound with the oppositely-directed phenyl groups. The effects of metal insertion on molecular and electronic structures were investigated both experimentally and theoretically.
