Abstract
A class of field configurations, those that satisfy (∂ · D)(∂ · A)=0 with ∂ · A≠0, and satisfying spherical symmetry is shown to be not transformable to the Coulomb gauge in the context of L2 fields. This is shown by considering all kinds of gauge transformations — infinitesimal, finite, and large gauge transformations.
