Abstract
A single crack problem is studied. In the problem, the tractions applied on both crack faces are same in magnitude and same in direction. In this case, it is shown that a logarithmic singularity exists in the vicinity of crack tip in addition to the inverse half singularity. A complete expression for the singular stresses at the vicinity of crack tip is obtained.
