REFLECTION EFFECTS OF SPHERICAL SHOCK WAVE

Abstract

The shock wave is reflected when it meets the boundary, and the boundary suffers an impulsive force simultaneously. The interaction between shock wave and boundary surface is related with their shapes. Many researches focused on the problems that a planar or a spherical shock wave is reflected by plate surface in the past. Recently, some researchers indicated that the interaction effect of spherical shock wave with a parabolic surface may be used for propulsion technique. But detailed work was not reported. In this paper, by using the numerical method, we study the interaction effect between a spherical shock wave and the parabolic surface. The propagation of reflected shock wave and the impulsive force that the parabolic surface sustains are computed.
