Abstract
Samarium is doped into Bi 2−x Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 10+δ in the concentrations (x) 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3, and the resistivity, XRD patterns and Raman spectra are investigated. Samples do not exhibit superconductivity down to 77 K in the resistivity measurements. The characteristic peaks of the high T c 2223 phase are not observed in the XRD patterns, while a few peaks of the semiconducting 2201 phase are obtained. Raman spectra recorded at 296 K and 93 K do not reveal the characteristic bands of the superconducting phase.
