Abstract
In this paper, we prove that the gravity theory based on a generalized Lagrangian density, which depends in a nonlinear way not only upon the entire curvature tensor, but also upon its covariant derivatives up to a fixed order [Formula: see text], is equivalent to the standard Einstein theory of gravitational field, maybe interacting with additional matter fields.
