Abstract

Using Cr[Formula: see text]:ZnSe as the saturable absorber, stable passively [Formula: see text]-switched operation of the Er:YAG laser at 1617 and 1645[Formula: see text]nm with per-pulse energy higher than 200[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]J can be achieved by controlling the output coupling ratios. The result indicates that the Cr[Formula: see text]:ZnSe crystal could be a robust nonlinear optical modulator for [Formula: see text]m pulsed laser.
