Abstract

For the massive (λφ4)D vector N-component model in the large-N limit, we investigate the thermal behavior of the coupling constant. For the Wick-ordered model we check that there is no first-order phase transition induced by the thermal renormalized coupling constant regardless of the dimension D. Moreover, for D=3 we are able to give an exact formula for the temperature behavior of the coupling constant. For the non-Wick-ordered model all the contributions from the thermal part of the tadpoles must be taken into account. We indicate how this may be done in arbitrary dimension D.
