HOW TO MONITOR CAPABILITY INDEX CM USING EWMA

Abstract

This article demonstrates how a two parameter logarithm transformation associated with an EWMA type approach can be used to monitor the machine capability index CM. The computation of the logarithm transformation parameters and the control limits is explained. An easy-to-use table is provided and an illustrative example is given. The performance of the logarithm transformation is discussed in terms of normality.
