LOCAL DOMAIN VS. COLLECTIVE DOMAIN: PRECURSORS TO PHOTOINDUCED STRUCTURAL PHASE TRANSITIONS IN COUPLED CHAINS WITH ELECTRON-LATTICE INTERACTION

Abstract

An electron-lattice model is proposed as a prototype system simulating photoinduced structural phase transitions. In particular, a coupled-chain system consisting of four chains is studied by both analyses of adiabatic potential surfaces and dynamical simulations. Special emphases are placed on nonlinearity in domain creations with respect to excitation density, intrinsic dissipation, sensitivity to initial conditions, and domain merging.
