Abstract
Following the past nearly twenty-year evolutionary path in the interdisciplinary research of semiconductor superlattices and quantum wells, significant milestones are presented with emphasis on experimental achievements in the physics of reduced dimensionality made possible with the advance in heteroepitaxy.
