Abstract
Real compositions and structures of various samples of Y-Ba-Cu-O compound have been studied by Rutherford backscattering (RBS), nuclear reaction, electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) and X-ray diffraction. Results show that in this system all superconductive samples with different nominal compositions have a tendency to form a superconductive phase of perovskite-like YBa2Cu3O7 (Phase A), and the remaining constituents are gathered to another phase (Phase B). Therefore the chemical compositions of this compound system are insensitive to Tc and the superconductor is relatively easy to be prepared.
