Abstract
The anomalous diamagnetism observed in cuprate materials above Tc is justified by a presence of superconducting droplets, due to the charge inhomogeneity on the CuO plane, with Tcloc>Tcres. The phase fluctuations contribute to the magnetic properties generating vortex and antivortex which add to the flux lines induced by magnetic field. The model describes the behaviour below and above the irreversibility line and it predicts an evident upturn in the magnetization curves for T<Tirr.
