Abstract
The effects of a phonon bath environment on the dynamics of a superconducting tunnel junction are investigated. In the Ohmic case, the coupling dependence of the renormalized tunneling splitting is obtained. At weak damping, the shape of the double well is manifested in the coupling representation. Special attention is devoted to squeezing Hamiltonians, a useful tool in the determination of critical parameters related to coherent oscillations.
