Abstract

Pairs of dark or bright spatial solitons formed in self-defocussing and self-focussing media respectively can be used to write structures akin to waveguide X-junctions into the nonlinear materials. We discuss the properties of the junctions so formed with a particular interest in the way they propagate different wavelength probe beams injected co-axially along the solitons.
