TWO-PHOTON ABSORPTION IN POTASSIUM DIHYDROPHOSPHATE, POTASSIUM PENTABORATE AND QUARTZ CRYSTALS AT 270 AND 216 nm

Abstract

The absolute coefficients of two-photon absorption (TPA) of KDP, KB 5 O 8 · 4 H 2O, quartz and fused silica at 270 and 216 nm are measured. At 216 nm, TPA coefficients of these optical materials are approximately equal: β=(4÷6, 5) · 10−10 cm/W. The presence of crystal dopes is shown to increase nonlinear losses beginning from the intensities ~107 W/cm2.
