Abstract
ABSTRACTPowassan virus (POWV) is a tick-borne flavivirus that can cause lethal or debilitating neurological illness. It is canonically transmitted by Ixodes genus ticks but may interact with sympatric Dermacentor species. Here, we report the first detection of POWV lineage I from a pool of field-collected D. variabilis in New York state.
