Abstract
AbstractThe function of zebra stripes has many possible explanations. Some researchers suggested zebra stripes are a form of adaptation to high temperatures, allowing to maintain a lower animal body temperature in hot environment. Sunlight radiation creates a temperature difference between cooler white and hotter black stripes. Hypothesis state there are currents of air formed caused by this temperature difference. This hypothesis is examined using the CFD numerical simulation of zebra surface in ANSYS Fluent to uncover the physical phenomenon.
