Abstract
The implications of an appreciation of mathematics on the part of prospective elementary teachers are farreaching, considering the teaching responsibilities they are about to assume. In light of these far-reaching implications, the college mathematics program for elementary teachers presents a definite challenge. One promising and meaningful provision for developing mathematical appreciation falls into the area of the history of mathematics.
