Aesthetic surgery of the leg

Abstract

Abstract Aesthetic surgery of the lower limb has been gradually developing over the past few decades. Despite the high complication rates of surgery, demand for well-defined legs has recently increased. In this chapter, the various elements that contribute to the ideal aesthetic leg and the available modalities that assist in achieving the optimal aesthetic outcome are discussed. Techniques of calf augmentation, resection of gastrocnemius muscle, and circumferential liposuction are analysed. Key points are emphasized in order to reach the desired goal and to avoid complications that may lead to functional impairment.
