Abstract
Abstract
This chapter helps the learner differentiate between per-protocol and intent-to-treat statistical analyses. It also helps the learner to differentiate between the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s algorithms that assess virologic response to antiretroviral therapies and when noninferiority analysis may be considered. The learner will also understand the difficulties of drawing cause-and-effect conclusions about associations identified in research studies, including the limitations of observational studies and cross-study comparisons.
