Abstract

This book comprehensively covers common (and less common but important) pediatric emergencies in a practical and clinically focused manner. The target audience is general emergency providers (emergency medicine physicians, attendings, resident trainees, and advance practice providers) primarily who care for both adults and children. The chapters compare and contrasts the presentation and care of specific diseases in children with care in adults. The unique features of care in children are emphasized and this book is broadly organized by involved organ systems. Each chapter of this book is authored by a practicing Pediatric Emergency Medicine doctor who is nationally recognized expert. The chapters are clinically focused and synthesize years of clinical experience and incorporation of the most up to date evidence-based care. Each chapter is chock full of practical clinical pearls that can be used at the bedside on the next shift. This book is unique as it is more clinically focused than a traditional textbook but more comprehensive than a typical clinical guide. Additionally, this book is written by carefully selected and nationally recognized experts in Pediatric Emergency Medicine from academic institutions throughout the United States.
