Abstract

Abstract Pediatric otolaryngology procedures constitute a diverse set of procedures, each with different degrees of invasiveness and special anesthetic considerations. Patients undergoing otolaryngologic surgery can have potentially life-threatening upper airway obstruction or have severe pulmonary insufficiency requiring diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Even in patients without life-threatening pathology, common to the majority of these surgical procedures is their proximity to the airway, requiring the pediatric anesthesiologist to develop strategic approaches to mitigate the risk of perioperative airway complications.
