Abstract

AbstractThis is the concluding chapter of this work and covers the findings of the study regarding the changing discourse of Islam–democracy (in)compatibility (covering a period of over two centuries) and thereof summarizes the general approach of the Muslim scholars of the nineteenth to twenty-first centuries regarding Islam–democracy reconciliation: be it the nineteenth and early twentieth scholars of the Arab world or South Asia (sub-continent) or the prominent academicians, thinkers, religious/political leaders, (political) analysts—of the sub-continent, Arab world and those based in the West. It also raises some fundamental questions related to this fiercely debated discourse in the contemporary Islamic political thought.
