Top–down approach for increasing skin of colour representation in dermatology: emphasizing greater representation of skin of colour in national board examinations. Comment on ‘Assessment of diversity in skin colour in dermatology medical education resources’

Abstract

Despite calls to increase skin of colour (SoC) representation in dermatology, educational materials continue to depict cutaneous lesions in lighter skin. In this letter, we endorse a top–down approach (i.e. increasing frequency of SoC representation in board exams) to remedy the poor representation of SoC in dermatology.
