Multiple giant intercostal and lumbar artery aneurysms

Abstract

Abstract This case report presents a 49-year-old male with multiple intercostal and lumbar aneurysms of the thoraco-abdominal aorta, complicating a history of aortic surgeries and comorbidities. Following emergent surgical repair of a ruptured lumbar aneurysm, a multidisciplinary team opted for staged interventions, mitigating risks and optimizing outcomes. Treatment stages involved surgical ligation and endovascular embolization, aiming to minimize complications, particularly spinal cord ischaemia. This case underscores the challenges of managing complex and rare aortic pathology, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary care and close follow-up to mitigate risks.
