Homeworking among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

This commentary article considers the experiences of homeworking among healthcare workers during the pandemic, with a focus on mental and physical health consequences. While positive outcomes were observed, such as improved sleep hygiene and increased patient capacity, negative effects like burnout, social disconnection and physical health deterioration were prevalent. Further research is necessary to assess long-term effects and evaluate if remote working practices can be adopted to support healthcare workers.
