Abstract
Abstract
Stocks 50, 93 and 305 in syngen 2 of Paramecium aurelia differ in their A esterases. Stock 305 also has a variant B esterase. The results of crosses carried out between stocks show that the A and B esterases are under the control of separate genes, thus confirming the prediction based on differences in the chemical properties and the distribution of these esterases in different syngens.
