Abstract
Abstract
Against the backdrop of the ongoing discussion on Loss & Damage (L&D) in the climate change context, this chapter provides an overview on the trends in climate risks such as cyclone, flood, and drought, and their impacts on Indian agriculture. The chapter argues that it would be more appropriate to frame L&D debate as impacts associated with sudden- and slow-onset climate risks, rather than ‘residual impacts’ as it is often done in the climate change impact literature. The chapter further discusses the domestic and global risk-mitigation options for effective financial management of climate risks.
