Abstract
This chapter provides a description and empirical overview of the Latino family, as well as an eco-systemic theoretical framework, followed by a selective review of significant family-related problems and socioculturally competent interventions. Variations in family structure, functions, and core values and practices in response to acculturation are emphasized, including family destabilization and the need for bicultural flexibility and expansion to optimize adaptation in America.
