Abstract
Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to give a basic outline of the cognitive and educational difficulties which may follow an acquired brain injury. The focus of the chapter will be on traumatic brain injuries as these tend to be more frequently associated with long-term educational problems, which may often be subtle and become apparent only some months or years following the injury. As with other chapters there is considerable overlap with additional problems - including speech and language impairment and emotional and behavioural difficulties - which again reinforces the need for a coordinated and multidisciplinary approach for these children.
