Biruni and Ibn Sina through the Ages

Abstract

Abstract This chapter considers the legacy left by Biruni and Ibn Sina. It starts with the unfortunate loss of the thinkers' writings due to fire and conflict. However, some books were fortunate to survive and were disseminated widely. By the end of the twentieth century, the new generation of European and American scholars was bringing a high level of skill to the study of Biruni’s most abstruse mathematical and astronomical works and Ibn Sina’s most impenetrable philosophical writings. Thus, the heritage of both thinkers is slowly being reintegrated with the mainstream of world thought. The chapter cites that both thinkers' births are celebrated in both India and Pakistan.
